Six Day War of 1899 - Battlefield Tour

posted 11 Mar 2012, 21:46 by John Leighton
On Saturday 3rd March 2012, Dr Patrick Hase, author of this book, led a tour of battlefield and other notable sites in and around Tai Po, the Lam Tsuen valley and Pat Heung.

Patrick gave what was regarded by all as an excellent tour - and we are most thankful to him for his offer to lead this event.  Patricks clear knowledge of the events of 1899, together with his experience in the New Territories with the Hong Kong Government, and the thorough preparation that went into the event meant a day out par excellence.

In addition to sites specifically connected with the fighting, we were also treated to a tour of the old Tai Po Police Station, and the New Territories District Office in Tai Po.

One of the tour participants has helpfully written up his thoughts on the trip here.    Alas, the planned lunch at the Nunnery did not happen, but a last minute switch to a curry take-away, delivered by taxi to the Pat Heung temple, fitted the bill.
