Hong Kong Colonial Cemetery & Royal Hong Kong Regiment club house

posted 7 Jun 2011, 16:08 by John Leighton
The branch organised a visit to the Colonial Cemetery on Sunday 29th May, followed by drinks in the RHKR Association club house across the road in the Happy Valley racecourse stands.

There was a good turn out for a fascinating tour of the cemetery kindly given by Paul Harrison, previously of the Urban Services Department.  The cemetery contains many links with the history of Hong Kong, as well as providing the opportunity for frequent anecdotes and tales of old to be told.  It was only through the survival instinct of those gathered, having endured 2 hours plus of mosquito attack, that we departed across the road to the RHKR club house, for air conditioned refreshments and conversation amongst their regimental memorabilia.
