posted 8 Nov 2012, 19:02 by John Leighton

The November meeting of the OMRS will be held at 8pm on Tuesday 27th November at the Gallery Room of the Police Officers’ Club, Causeway Bay. The Gallery Room is half way between the bar and the main foyer on the right side as you walk to the bar.

We are fortunate to have as our guest speaker Richard Garrett who will give an illustrated talk on the Defences of Macau. Richard, a retired civil engineer and an expert in antique weapons, is the author of “The Defences of Macau: Forts, Ships and Weapons over 450 Years”. He was educated at Dulwich College and Trinity College, Cambridge and is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Hong Kong’s Centre of Asian Studies, and a member of the Arms and Armour Society, the Society for Army Historical Research and the Ordnance Society.

A further reminder for your diary is the Society Christmas dinner will be held on 15th December next, details in a separate flyer.

Also congratulations to Chris Bilham, our immediate Past President, now in New Zealand who has been awarded to OMRS Award of Merit in Gold. Well deserved.
